I am out of flour for the first time ever!!!

Test runs have started and boy has there been a lot of baking in the last 72 hours!!!

For the first time in a long time I am completely out of flour!!!! But I have almost perfected my butter cookie recipe! Let me tell you there has been lots of trial and error!

Next on the agenda is experimenting with stevia and / or truvia!!! I have never bake with either of these 2 things and from what I cant tell, the smallest miscalculation can become a VERY sweet disaster…. However, I will prevail!!!

The costs are adding up quickly and honestly there is a bit more work in this whole process than I anticipated. Being a full time mom doesn’t leave me with a lot of dedicated attention units. Not to mention that I have a brand new puppy at home, a husband who’s back just went out and a baby that is now practically crawling!

The last 3 days have been a little testing. But even if it takes months I will get this going!!! That is all for the updates…

As a side note, I am looking for opinions as to whether or not people would be interested in a wide variety of sugar free cookies… Let me know.

ALL HOMEMADE

Chocolate chip cookies your way with the option to select from a LONG list of add ins for the type of cookie you want!
– Fortune cookies you can select generic fortunes to be placed in or write your own. Perfect for baby showers, proposals etc!!! I am still doing some final tests to see if I can color the cookies… There will be updates to let you all know.
– Cigarettes Russe cookies dipped in chocolate and your choice of nuts… with an option for chocolate of course!
– Macaroons  either chocolate, chocolate chunk or original!
– Black and white crackles, yummy chocolate cookie balls covered in powder sugar
– Milk chocolate cookies
– Cream cheese lemon, lime or orange cookies
– Sugar cookies, pick either chocolate or regular, pick your own shape, color and decor!!!!
– Butter twists
– Chocolate thumbprints
Last but certainly not least…
– Double chocolate brownies!!! with a whole grocery list of add ins to choose from!

I will be posting up test run photos as they begin (silly me I have never taken a picture of my wonderful goodies!!!!)

Get ready for a crazy whirlwind of sugar, flour and LOTS and LOTS of butter!!!! Stay tuned and be sure to send me your thoughts!!!

First questions answered….

No, Cookies from the ground up is not going to be the name of the company…. :-) We do have a few names picked out and will survey accordingly when the time comes.

I do plan on experimenting with stevia and truvia to do what I can to prevent my friends, family and future customers from becoming extremely obese… If you have any amazing recipes that contain these let me know….

The beginning…

Well, where to start… I figure the beginning sounds like a great place :-) .

Flash back to the early years for us young folk and you’ll find me in the kitchen of my grandparents watching my Poppy making homemade pot stickers. This is where my love for the kitchen began!  As a youngster I always thought that my grandpa’s job was making food, I had no idea that for him it was just a passion and a job had nothing to do with it. I remember sitting there thinking, “He has the coolest job ever! Not only does he get to make it all the time! He gets to eat it too!”

My love for cooking continued through the years and slowly transformed into a love of pastry.

Fast forward almost 10 years, a husband, a baby and a few cross-country moves later to find me here! I have opted to leave my job as a third grade teacher at a local private school in Los Angeles to become a stay-at-home mom. Baking has become my outlet over the years (to my husband, family and friends demise…). It became how I got out anger, sadness, excitement, pent up energy and boredom.

One day after my husband’s billionth run to the store for extra sticks of butter to supply my latest round of impulse baking, he looks at me and says, “Honey I wouldn’t mind all the baking if it was at least tax deductible!” BRILLIANT!

A few days prior while watching a man who I am secretly in love with (Bobby Flay) on his show “Throwdown” I saw 2 women who had an online brownie company. They made the brownies and shipped the to customers! Again BRILLIANT!!!

I loved growing up with a family that cooked, it is an important factor that I want to instill on my daughter. So here I am with a brilliant idea to do what I love with my daughter and make money doing it!

This is my story: “cookies from the ground up”, the goal: to open an online bakery

I invite you to come along for the ride! I’d love your opinions, info, thoughts and advice.

WISH ME LUCK AND STAY TUNED!!!!!
